The essence of minimalism: Nissa Kinzhalina, the creator of the exquisite Living Light lamp, is back with the design for the Gentle Hint chairs, two minimal chairs that double also as table elements.
Ikea organized a competition for children to draw a fantasy toy. The 10 winning entries were then turned into cute plush toys and Ikea will sell them around the world as part of its Soft Toys For Education campaign. Check out this video to see more for the procedure. Such a great idea and for a good cause!
Pentagram partner Natasha Jen and her team designed a cool typographic identity for the American Institute of Architects’ ball. It includes a playful and flexible typeface called Herita-Geo, which expands and contracts depending on its usage, inspired by the way architecture responds to available space.

My girls were never too crazy about Barbie, but I was happy to see that after 59 years, Mattel finally gets it right: the new Barbie ad finally changes strategy and starts encouraging little girls to “imagine the possibilities”, when they follow their dreams and career goals. Maybe if they also changed those awful Barbie movies, it would really make a difference!
“Bodies are built for motion — not for stillness”. As someone who sits for long hours while working on the computer, this video touches a nerve with me personally. It actually explains what happens to our body and our health when we sit all the time.
I find these tiles so beautiful and also so retro. The Brasiliana collection is made of natural and colored wood tiles, designed by Renata Rubim for Oca Brasil and comes in three styles: Tribal, Modernist, and Colonial and represent distinct periods of Brazilian design history.
