Stamp collection: Destination Greece

Destination Greece, stamp collection, greek island

Destination Greece, stamp collection, olive

Destination Greece, stamp collection, all stamps

Destination Greece, stamp collection, cycladic figure

I love this stamp collection by Athens-based graphic designer & illustrator Mike Karolos. It is called ‘Destination Greece’ and is a self-initiated project that aims to show – among the economic crisis – the beautiful side of Greece. Karolos has a very distinct graphic style in most of his work, drawing inspiration from abstract and pop-art style.

Can someone turn these into real stamps please? Thank you.

I just discovered  Martin O’Neill, a London-based illustrator & artist who creates beautiful collages for publishing, advertising, design & installation work.

In order to create his images he combines collage, silkscreen, photography, paint, and digital techniques. I especially love his type collages, there is so much going on, I wish I had larger photos of his work to be able to see the detail.

More lovely work on his website called appropriately “Cut it out

Space tourism posters for NASA

How often can you get a commissioned project by NASA?

These beautiful retro-style posters were designed by Invisible Creature, two award-winning brothers from Seattle. They were commissioned by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to design a set of “travel posters”, that would be part of a 2016 calendar, and was given as a gift to JPL and NASA staff, as well as engineers, government and university staff.

The designers were not just lucky. Their grandfather was an illustrator and graphic designer at NASA for over 30 years, so this project was obviously a special one.

Some of the limited-edition prints from the designers are sold out, but the designs are available here to download for free. I already downloaded mine!

KODAK Super 8 Camera

Remember when we tried to retrieve our parent’s old Super 8 movies in order to turn them to VHS and then again save in digital form ? And you always hear that today’s digital cameras cannot compare to the vintage feel of the old super 8 ones.

Well, Kodak has launched a brand new film camera that shoots on 8mm film! Yes, they have gone back to analog (well, almost). The new Super 8 camera comes with an LCD viewfinder and a nice leather handle, but most importantly Kodak takes care of all the processing hassle. So, apparently when you purchase the Super 8 film, you will be buying the film, processing and digital transfer. The lab will send you your developed film back and email you a password to retrieve your digital scans from the cloud.

Archibet-ALL

The buildings of 26 important architects are transformed into letters of the alphabet in this series of whimsical illustrations by Federico Babina. The Barcelona-based architect and graphic artist says “the idea on which the Archibet project is based is to find a way to express the diversity of forms and styles that make up the architecture. Each letter is a small surrealist building that becomes part of an imaginary city made up of different shapes and styles that speak the same language of architecture”.
