A new funny ad for Ikea from Swedish ad agency Åkestam Holst. The creators say: “We simply renamed IKEA’s products as common Google searches about relationship problems in Sweden. When you googled your problem, you found an IKEA product with the exact same name – on a site identical to IKEA’s main shopping site. A product that might help you improve your relationship at home. Or just remind you of the fact that our products are inspired by your life, for real. So whether it’s a snoring husband, a never ending gaming son or any other relationship problem you have, IKEA can come to the rescue. Or at least put a smile on your face, while you keep googling for an answer.”
Try it yourself on the website of Ikea Retail Therapy. The project launched in Sweden a couple of weeks ago, and got a lot of positive media attention.
Preposterous is a great little film about absurdity, “random short scenes that do not make any sense” by motion & graphic designer Florent Porta. Love the music!

How amazing is the fantastic world of Travis Louie, an American artist from New York! Inspired by the Victorian and Edwardian age, the artist’s characters – humans, animals, weird beasts and otherworldly creatures – are depicted like having their formal portraits taken, but in unusual circumstances.
The artist says about his work: “I think the human race is full of misunderstandings based on people holding too close to their own cultures and being unable to embrace the idea that people can believe in other things and still get along in a reasonable sort of way.” He adds that he created these characters as a sort of “veiled commentary on racism and the immigrant experience”.
These are from the collection of Sunday Sketches from Christoph Niemann, one of my favorite illustrators and artists. Niemann who is based in Berlin, started posting weekly doodle sketches based around everyday objects on his Instagram page. He says. “The idea for the series happened organically: because I always have a messy desk there was all this stuff that shouldn’t be there, so I started drawing around that. Now I pick an object that doesn’t immediately invite any kind of connection – the weirder the better – and then I stare at it until some kind of image appears.”

I love this animated video by Parallel Studio. They explain the idea: “We created and directed a video about unsatisfying situations: the frustrating, annoying, disappointing little things of everyday life, that are so painful to live or even to watch.” Oh yes, I agree!!
